What is a reconditioned tool?
A reconditioned oscillating tool is typically a tool that failed right out of the box or simply returned because the customer changes his mind. Most major tool manufactures offer a 30 day return policy if you don't like the tool. Other times a manufacture may make an update and take back stock from a distributor to change out a part. In any event, these tools can't be sold as new, so they are
gone through and resold as reconditioned tools. How do I know? I have been in the power tool industry for over 15 years and have sold many reconditioned tools without a problem.
Do I get a warranty?
The good news that in most cases you get a full one year warranty on a reconditioned oscillating tool. Now some tools, like the Bosch PS50 cordless oscillating tool, would have a three year warranty on a new tool if you would register it with Bosch. So, you could argue you loose out on some of the warranty. But if you are looking at a reconditioned oscillating tool, you are likely looking for a tool to use once and a while that is still good quality and that will save you a few bucks.
